Development of the SSSP software

The Seafood Spoilage and Safety Predictor (SSSP) software has been developed by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), National Institute of Aquatic Resources (DTU Aqua) as a collaboration between the research group 'Seafood & Predictive Microbiology' (Paw Dalgaard) and the Section for Software Development (Brian James Cowan). SSSP has been developed primarily on the basis of predictive microbiology research carried out since 1990 within research group 'Seafood & Predictive Microbiology'. Programming of SSSP has been carried out by Brian James Cowan. Erik Lund designed the SSSP logo.

Microsoft Visual C# .Net (msdn.microsoft.com/vcsharp/) and Microsoft Visual Studio .Net were selected for the programming and development of SSSP. C# is an object-oriented programming language and it was selected to create SSSP as a flexibly application that allows convenient addition of new models and facilities. C# provides extensive support for XML (www.w3c.org/XML/) and this language has been used for importing, exporting as well as handling of the data internally within the application. XML also provided the ability to easily create a multi language application and user configurable options.
